Where Does Peace Begin? © 2004 Phildwith Music (ASCAP) Where does peace begin? From lessons that we learn? Through millenniums that we burn With passion for the loved ones that we've lost. Look what all this fighting has cost. There are starving people that we need to feed. Why should we be making people bleed? I think that we should all roll up our sleeves. And toss away the avarice and greed. Where does peace begin? Do we send someone to hell? When we know full well, They're the very one's we saved the war before. What the hell are we still fighting for? Do we want somebody else to tow the line? The burden, it is yours and it is mine. We don't have to fight 'til we succeed. Isn't peace the way we should proceed? We're filled up in the lives, then, tally all the tolls, And only see the things that block our way. Haven't we the room in our loving souls To forgive mistakes they didn't know they made. Where does peace begin? When we walk outside our door, Do we learn a little more? Why are we afraid of what we'll find? Can't we leave the fighting all behind? Our voice of peace is far too soft to hear, Through angry voices shouting "let us fight". Peace begins with love, it is all we need. John Lennon said it, years ago. He's right. We're filled up in the lives, then, tally all the tolls, And only see the things that block our way. Haven't we the room in our loving souls To forgive mistakes they didn't know they made. |
